Ms. Wright joined the firm in 2000 and is a partner in the firm. Her practice focuses on land use and environmental law. Ms. Wright handles all phases of the land use entitlement and permitting processes, including administrative approvals and litigation. Her practice covers the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the State Planning and Zoning Law, the Subdivision Map Act, the Williamson Act, the California Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the federal Endangered Species Act and the federal Clean Water Act provisions associated with wetlands permitting.

Ms. Wright typically teaches several land use and environmental law classes and seminars each year for professional organizations such as the Association of Environmental Professionals and Lorman.

Ms. Wright appears regularly in state courts throughout California and has participated in the following lawsuits that have resulted in published, precedent-setting Court of Appeal decisions: CalBeach Advocates v. City of Solana Beach (2002) 103 Cal.App.4th 529; St. Vincent’s School for Boys, Catholic Charities CYO v. City of San Rafael (2008) 161 Cal.App.4th 989; and Sustainable Transportation Advocates of Santa Barbara v. Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (2009) 179 Cal.App.4th 113.

Representative matters in which Ms. Wright is currently involved include:

  • Outside counsel to Metropolitan Transportation Authority in litigation challenging its approval of Measure R, a sales tax measure approved by the voters in November 2008;
  • Representing Elliott Homes with respect to the Rio del Oro Specific Plan, a 3,828 acre mixed-use development in Rancho Cordova, including CEQA review, Planning and Zoning law requirements, Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act permitting;
  • Outside counsel to the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments in litigation defending its approval of Measure A, a sales tax measure approved by the voters in November 2008, and in litigation challenging SBCAG’s adoption of its most recent Regional Transportation Plan;
  • Attorney for Congregation Kol Shofar in its efforts to obtain permits from the Town of Tiburon and defend litigation to construct a multi-purpose facility.

Ms. Wright graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1995 with a B.S. in Environmental Toxicology. She obtained her J.D. from U.C. Davis, King Hall School of Law in 2000. During law school, she clerked for Earthjustice Legal Defense Fund and the Planning and Conservation League.
